Universitas Budi Luhur awal didirikanya dengan nama Akademik Ilmu Komputer (AIK) Budi Luhur di Jakarta , Beralamat di Jl.Budi Utomo No.11 Jakarta Pusat pada tanggal 1 April 1979.

Setelah dua tahun pada tanggal 11 Agustus 1981 AIK Budi Luhur di ganti namanya oleh pemerintah menjadi Akademi Pengetahuan Komputer (APK) Budi Luhur. maka pada tanggal 17 Agustus 1985 APK Budi Luhur pindah dari Jl.Budi Utomo No.11 ke Jalan Ciledug Raya, Petukangan Utara, Kebayoran Lama. APK Budi Luhur Merupakan Universitas Di Jakarta Selatan pertama Dalam Bidang Komputer.

          Universitas Di Jakarta Setalan tersebut pada bulan Agustus 1985 mendirikan Akademi Teknik Elektro (ATEK) Budi Luhur dan Akademi Akuntansi Komputer (AAK) Budi Luhur. Dengan Kemajuan -kemajuan yang di capai oleh APK Budi Luhur, Pemerintah memberi kenaikan status (akreditasi) dan terdaftar menjadi diakui. Pemberian status diakui itu mengakibatkan bergantinya nama APK Budi Luhur menjadi Akademi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer (AMIK) Budi Luhur.

          Strata-1 (S1) Didirikan Sekolah Tinggi Pengetahuan Komputer (STPK) Budi Luhur di semester genap tahun akademi 1985-1986. Sesuai dengan keputusan Menteri Pendidikan Nasional 144/D/o/2002 tanggal 7 Juni  2002 diintegrasikan menjadi Universitas Budi Luhur.

In 1978 it was proposed as a national park, with provisional declaration in 1989 and final declaration in 1997.

Habitat
Much of the park is dominated by a mosaic of Imperata cylindrica grassland and secondary forest habitat types, primarily a result of intensive logging operations in the past, but maintained by frequent fires and seasonal flooding. A central core area of the park is characterised by relatively intact primary tropical rainforest.
 

Biodiversity

 Remote camera monitoring, carried out by the Sumatran Tiger Project and the Indonesian Department of Forestry between 1995 and 1999, has shown that the park's mammal biodiversity remains intact. Camera work suggests that between 21 and 36 tigers existed in the park during this period.

Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis) previously thought to be extinct within the park, discovered by this project, are estimated to number about 20 individuals

Way Kambas National Park is considered an excellent model in which to develop tiger conservation plans across Sumatra.
